There are numerous stories in the UK press of traumatic experiences of expectant mothers where their partners were not allowed to attend important scans or birth due to ongoing Covid restrictions. Read one such story here.

Government guideline in UK allows partners to attend scans and birth, however certain NHS trusts are not allowing partners currently in line with their own restrictions relating to the pandemic.

Since then, a campaign aimed at ensuring no women go through pregnancy scans or labour without a partner or close family member present during the ongoing Covid-19 health crisis is being led by Melton MP, Alicia Kearns. Alicia continues to work with her colleagues in government to ensure women across the country are afforded the same right to support during scans and labour as herself, who is currently pregnant and has been fortunate to be accompanied by her partner during hospital visits.
