Tripe contains an abundance of nutrients that can do a world of good during pregnancy. It is a healthy source of protein, Iron, Vitamin A and B12. Protein helps in strengthening bone and muscle health and repairing damaged tissue. Iron and Vitamin B12 prevent anaemia in pregnant women. Vitamin A aids the development of foetal vision and immune system. Tripe also contains selenium, a mineral that is essential for the body’s signaling and defence systems.

However too much of tripe can cause vitamin A toxicity and dangerously high copper levels which can cause birth defects and liver toxicity. Therefore it is best to consume tripe only once per month.
