Beans refer to several types of seeds. Some of the commonly used beans include black or lima beans, pinto beans, and mung beans to name a few. Beans in general are known to be good sources of fiber, protien, iron, calcium, folate and zinc. All of these nutrients are vital for the growth and development of your baby.
However, a report by the Foodsafety.gov states that it is unsafe to have raw or undercooked sprouts and beans as they contain E. coli or Salmonella bacteria. Hence, it is important to make sure you only include beans that are cooked or baked thoroughly during pregnancy.
