Cheddar, also known as cheddar cheese, is a coagulation of milk and rennet that gives it an off-white color and a slightly bitter taste. It is perfectly safe for pregnant women to eat during their pregnancy, provided it is eaten in moderation.
Cheddar is loaded with essential nutrients like protein that is known to reduce pregnancy related complications like gestational diabetes and blood sugar levels. The amino acids in it also form the building blocks of yours and the baby’s cells. The minerals calcium and phosphorus present in the cheese aid in development of your baby’s teeth and bones. Even the small amounts of vitamin B6 and B12 present help prevent spina bifida and other spinal and central nervous system birth defects in your baby.
Of course, you cannot survive on just cheddar cheese and expect to get all your nutrients. Also, cheddar has a high saturated fat content. However, overall, cheddar is a safe addition to your pregnancy diet.
